Mayor Tim Theaker appointed Captain Kenneth A. Coontz Jr. as the new Chief of Police for the City of Mansfield.
Ken brings a wealth of experience to this position and his background in law enforcement and his distinguished service over the years has prepared him well to direct and manage the Mansfield Police Department.
Captain Coontz was hired as a Police Officer on September 21, 1993. He was promoted to Sergeant on February 14, 2005 and Lieutenant on June 25, 2009. He serves as the Deputy Project Director over METRICH and will be assuming the duties as the METRICH Project Director. His specialized training over the years, numerous awards he has received throughout his law enforcement career and his community involvement make Captain Coontz an excellent choice for Mansfield’s Police Chief.
Captain Coontz will be sworn into his new position on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in City Council Chambers located on the 3rd floor of the Municipal Building. All are welcome to attend.
